Asante Kotoko veteran Jordan Opoku hits back at Edmund Ackah and Nana Kwame Dankwah as Kotoko problems continue
Jordan Opoku, a veteran of Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko has hit back at two management members of the Kumasi based side on Thursday morning. The Ghanaian side is passing through series of problems after suffering shock elimination from the CAF Champions League in the hands of Etoile du Sahel and Confederation Cup from Ivorian emerging side San Pedro.
The aftermath of their continental exits saw their boss Kjeti Zachariassen fired early this month whiles some management members of the Ghanaian side still face the test of sack.
As rebuilding continues, some players including aging Jordan Opoku and defender Augustine Sefa have been tipped to leave the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, as their contracts run out at the end of this year.
It has been proposed that over-ageing players are reasons for Kotoko problems and poor performance on the pitch, where the club deem this time to axe senior player including Jordan Opoku to allow for youth assemble.
Whether this management-view holds or not, the former Kotoko captain thinks otherwise where he believes Kotoko’s poor performance and problems are from management side instead- Kotoko’s Accra Rep Edmund Ackah and Deputy Operations Manager, Nana Kwame Dankwah.
The veteran made this revelation during an interview with Kumasi based radio station Angle FM, during their morning sports show.
“Nana Kwame Dankwah and Edmund Ackah are the cause of problems in Asante Kotoko.” They (Management) should see to it that they run Kotoko with good hearts, because they were just called to give job and not any other things else”.
“Former coach Kjetil Zachariassen used to ask me if I had problem with some people within Asante Kotoko.”
Opoku’s hit on Nana Kwame Dankwah and Edmund Ackah came when the management of the Ghanaian giants were planning to arrange a testimonial game for their veteran that will see the West African Football Academy product leave Kotoko with heads up.
But Jordan Opoku, who thinks management had taken this decision without his concern, is not ready for retire that requires honoring his testimonial.
“Am not ready for retirement, who told them I’m planning to retire any time soon.” They can wait (for my retirement), I will come and tell them when am ready for retirement”, he told Angle FM.
If Jordan Opoku is forced out of Kotoko, he would be considered into the Fraternity of another Kumasi based club King Faisal.
