ZAMALEK edge closer in Hamza Mathlouthi transfer as agreement with CS Sfaxien reached

Zamalek have moved a step forward in completing Hamza Mathlouthi transfer from Club Sportif Sfaxien after Egyptian giants agreeing a fee around $2 million for the right-back.

Hamza Mathlouthi, who turns 28 next month, has impressed this season, appearing as starter for CS Sfaxien this season, and has long attracted interest from Esperance de Tunis, Al Ahly, Zamalek and Wydad Athletic Club de Casablanca.

However, Zamalek are set to beat their North African rivals to Mathlouthi’s signature as they have now agreed to pay $2 million for the Tunisian’s services.

Zamalek’s have been desperate to find replacement for Hamdi Nagguez- who departed the White-Knights last year December- but only under boss Patrice Carteron’s recommendation that has kept somehow long Zamalek’s endeavor to replace their former defender.

And Hazem Emam’s inability to impress demanding Carteron since Nagguez’s departure means the CAF Super Cup champions need imminent right-back before the season even ends and bolster their defense for next season.

After agreeing a deal with Sfaxien, the Cairo based side are in negotiations to agree personnel terms with Mathlouthi- who has already 17 appearances, two goals and three assists to his name across all competitions this season before coronavirus stoppage in Tunisia.

Zamalek boss Carteron rejected a move to Asia last month to sign extension at the Egyptian outfits seeing the French trainer to remain with at the Cairo International Stadium until end of 2020/2021 season.

He has guided Zamalek to recent continental success in winning the CAF Super Cup and reaching the semifinals of the African Champions League all against arguably the best African club in the last three years Esperance de Tunis.

Carteron, in his new task after extending his contract at Zamalek, is hoping to improve on his this season’s achievement next season and Mathlouthi is admire by the Zamalek manager before he recommended the Tunisian International to the Zamalek hierarchy.
