Simba SC monitoring Asante Kotoko attacking midfielder Eric Serge Zeze in potential summer move

Asante Kotoko attacking midfielder Eric Serge Zeze is been monitored by Simba Sporting Club ahead of summer 2023 move.

Zeze made his full debut for Asante Kotoko in Ghana Premier League Matchday 3 against Hearts of Oak but scored his debut goal in week 9 against Berekum Chelsea.

The Ivorian International joined the Ghana Premier League side at the beginning of the season from a lower side in Accra.

Arguably, the former ASEC Mimosas star has been the most chances created man for Asante Kotoko so far and the most skillful player in the Ghana Premier League likened to former Brazilian football idol Ronaldinho.

With only 9 games in the Ghanaian top flight, Serge Zeze has began attracting interest from outside the league due to his exceptional talent with Simba Sporting Club among a couple of African clubs following the midfielder’s signature.

Simba continue to struggle in the Tanzanian Premier League after a 1-1 score line against Kagera Sugar on Wednesday seeing the draw placed them 6 points behind leaders Young Africans.

Looking at the rate of results, Simba may be on the verge of losing the Tanzanian Premier League twice to arch rivals YANGA for two seasons now but they have the January transfer window to make amends after planning to bring in essential reinforcements to salvage their season.

Eric Serge Zeze is one of the key men Simba are hoping to bring in next month but the Reds’ chances in January looks limited due to Kotoko’s lack of consideration to let their prize asset leave.

Kotoko are having their own problems this term and struggling to defend their Ghana Premier League title. They have been smother in possession and more capable when they have Zeze on the pitch as the talented man climbed off the bench to equalized for Asante Kotoko in Ghana Premier League clash against Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon.

Letting Zeze leave in January means Kotoko will live the current season struggling to fight Aduana Stars for the Ghana Premier title which means they may not obtain African football for next season if they finally lost out on the title.

To avoid the situation is partly keeping influencial Zeze to at least the end of season ruling out the possibility of selling the Ivorian International next month. However, a deal looks possible only at the end of the season where Asante Kotoko have more time to find the perfect replacement for Zeze when they sell the midfielder.

Simba scouts are still keeping eyes on Zeze and will be pleased with his performance in Wednesday’s display against Berekum Chelsea.

He came from the bench to equalized for Asante Kotoko after Emmanuel Sarpong had given the visitors the lead. As Seydou Zerbo’s side struggle in the first half, Zeze was introduced making a significant impact right away after tapping home Steven Mukwala’s pass in a nice team movement.

Zeze assisted Mukwala for the Ugandan’s second goal of the game but was ruled offside. The nature of assist tells what Kotoko are missing when Zeze is not on the pitch after holding onto the ball while timing the run of Steve Mukwala, the attacking midfielder played Mukwala through on goal with the forward finishing one-time with his weaker left foot to top left corner of the Chelsea goal-keeper due to the quality of through ball.

If Simba are able to sign Eric Serge Zeze though January isn’t possible, the Tanzanian side may have their own version of Brazil’s Ronaldinho and undoubtedly the most skillful player on the African continent.

Second placed Simba who have 38 points on the log trail Young Africans 6 points after 17 league games while Asante Kotoko trail leaders Aduana Stars 2 points after 9 games in the Ghana Premier League.
