Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 Horoya AC: Glamour Boys stretched to a goalless draw in first Caf Champions League group game as Horoya extended lead

Kaizer Chiefs return the continental football but were forced to a goalless draw by Group C leaders Horoya AC.

The South African’s first game against Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco was cancelled due to influence from the coronavirus pandemic.

However, after hosting Horoya in their second game, Kaizer Chiefs were unabel to find a way past the Guinean side in the opening 45 minutes.

Anthony Akumu Agay, who was a late entry against SuperSport United on Saturday in the DStv Premiershi started in place of the injured Eric Mathoho while Kearyn Baccus came in for Njabulo Blom.

Chiefs started more promisingly early on with Leonardo Castro running frequently in-behind the defence before goalkeeper Moussa Camara got to work with a few smart blocks around the area.

The first shot in anger from the Glamour Boys though came before the closing period of the first half through Bernard Parker who took aim metres from the actual target.

Another glaring opportunity from a ball into the area went the home side’s way seconds later, but forward Samir Nurkovic couldn’t keep his header down.

Horoya nearly went to the break in front with an own-goal from a mistimed defensive clearance on 31 minutes by Agay, but fortunately the effort flew wide.

After restart, Chiefs continued pressuring for the opener but Horoya defended well to end the tie without a goal at FNB Stadium. The Premier Soccer League club will travel to play Petro Luanda in their next game.

The Angolan side have lost all their first two games after being punished at home by WAC in their recent Champions League game.

Horoya now lead the table with 4 points followed by WAC who recorded victory in their first game against Petro Luanda today Tuesday in Angola.
