Al-Merrikh 1-4 AS Vita Club: Relentless Vita Club record first Caf Champions League group stages win after sensational come-back as Red Devils handed second straight loss

Al-Merrikh struck first to start their second group stage of the Caf Champions League in high spirit but eventually threw the victory to a hard-fought AS Vita Club in Omdurman.

The Sudanese side fell 3-0 to Al Ahly in Cairo a week ago whiles their today’s opponents suffer a slim loss in hands of Simba that placed both AS Vita Club and Al Merrikh to the bottom of group A before the meeting today.

With all the teams hoping the qualify out to the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, clubs are serious with their home games.

And Al Merrikh made a strong home start when they welcomed Vita Club to the Al-Hilal Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Elsamani Saadeldin put Nasreddine Nabi’s men ahead after just 8’ minutes but Mayamba Mukokiani responded for AS Vita Club 20’ minutes later.

Djuma Shabbani converted 37’ minute penalty to get the Dr Congo side the lead before end of first half. The Vita Club continue from where they left proceedings in the first half as Amede Masasi made it 3-1 before Mayamba Mukokiani completes his brace in stoppage time.

Vita have now moved two places above 3 points behind leaders Simba who have a 100% record so far in the competition.
