“Orlando Pirates is a big club in Africa, and Pirates need to improve tactically”- New manager Josef Zinnbauer

After completing a three year deal last two weeks to replace Micho and Rhulani Mokwena at Orlando Pirates, Josef Zinnbauer guided Pirates to record an impressive 3-1 win over Black Leopards at Orlando Stadium on Saturday in his first game.

The German tactician, who ventures into African football for the first time in his career, has detailed his assessment of what he holds about Pirates team. In his post-match press conference after Leopards victory, Zinnbauer said;

“Before I came here, I watched a few games on the TV and I saw a very good quality in the team, and Pirates is a big club in Africa.”

“It’s very interesting and the players are very, very fast and quick, and they have a good technical [level]. I think we’ll improve more in terms of tactics, and then I think we’ll get a good resolution for success.

“Last week we had a good training camp and during this camp we had a lot of training sessions – what we can do is to improve tactically, but we see that with the ball, we’re good; without the ball we have to work on this and we’ll get it.”

The German’s victory on Saturday adds to Pirates’ five ABSA wins in the season so far, having Pirates already won only four league games out of their previous 13 matches.
