Inter Milan record first Champions League win of the season after beating Dortmund 2-0 in San Siro

Before today’s game against Borussia Dortmund in San Siro, Inter Milan had just one point from two Champions League games after drawing and losing to Slavia Prague and Barcelona from their previous two games respectively.

Antonio Conte and his side knew anything apart from a win would hamper Inter’s chances of progressing into the last 16 of the Champions League and claimed their first win in the competition over Dortmund.

Lautaro Martinez put Inter ahead 22’ minutes into the game after receiving a lofted pass on top of Dortmund defense from De Vrij, the Argentine Martinez reacted quickly before Roman Burki could save Dortmund to put the ball underneath Burki.

Inter got the opportunity to double their lead but Martinez saw his second half penalty saved by Dortmund keeper Burki after Mats Hummels has brought down 17-year old Sebastiano Esposito inside Dortmund penalty box.

Eight minutes later, Antonio Candreva extended Inter’s lead after the Italians caught the German outfits on the counter break.

Inter and Dortmund are level on four points in Group F, three behind leader Barcelona after the Catalan side won 2-1 at Slavia Prague.
