Liverpool end their poor show in away games of the Champions League as they thrash Genk 4-1 in Genk

Liverpool had failed to snatch a win or draw in their away group stage games of the Champions League prior to the game against Genk, marking from last season to this season. Liverpool were beaten by Napoli, Red Star Belgrade and PSG in last season group stage games and had already lost this season to Napoli in City of Naples.

Those losses meant Liverpool had gone four away games in the group stages of the Champions League without a win, but Klopp and his team end this run in Belgium soil after beating Genk 4-1, thanks to a double from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, one each from Sadion Mane and Mohammed Salah.

Former Arsenal man Chamberlain opened the scores for Liverpool just two minutes into the game, he added his second on the night on the 57’ minute mark before African duo Mane on the 77 minute and Salah ten minutes after Mane’s goal ensure Liverpool left Gent with all three points.

Stephen Odey pulled one back for the home side. It was a Good work from Ndongala down the left, he slipped a couple of tackles to turn it back for Odey: crisp finish from him and a nice consolation prize for the crowd.

Liverpool remain second in the group, a point behind leaders Napoli who came from behind to beat Red Bull Salzburg. Klopp’s side take on Tottenham Hotspurs this Sunday at Anfield.
