Ibrahim DANLAD outlines Felix Anann importance in move to Berekum Chelsea before start of season

Ghana youth International Ibrahim Danlad has revealed the one who advised him to join Ghana Premier League outfits Berekum Chelsea for a season long loan move.

Danlad who led Black Starless to the 2017 FIFA World Cup in India was eventually turning into a force to reckon with at Asante Kotoko but the Porcupine Warriors’ signing Kwame Baah at the beginning of this season meant Danlad’s progress will suffer a setback if he remains at the club.

The young and energetic shot stopper who right after his stunning performance at the FIFA competition was regarded as a third choice, and the coming in of experience goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe sidelined Danlad to a fourth choice at a point in time at the Baba Yara Stadium.

However, Danlad, 17, had beating Osei Kwame in third place and Tagoe in second to the second position on the goalkeeping log after playing a big part in Kotoko’s triumph the Normalization Committee Special Competition in 2019.

Kotoko’s desire to storm the African again in the 2019-2020  season meant another top quality in Kwame Baah would be an important step, and completed the signing of the Black Meteor first choice Baah.

There was no doubt the arrival of Baah who had been Ghana’s first choice in the 2019 African U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt, and helped Meteors to a fourth place in the competition, will affect the progress of Danlad at Kotoko.

The signing of Meteors stopper means Danlad has to compete with Osei Kwame for the third choice in the goalkeeping department or find another root in loan move to salvage his progressing career- that had gained recognition at the club and national level as he had received a couple of call ups to the U-20 national team.

The Ghana U-20 International later decided to go out on loan at Berekum Chelsea before the beginning of this season, and has revealed Kotoko captain Felix Anann played a big part in his move to Chelsea.

“I sat down with Felix Annam when I had to join Chelsea on loan”, he told Space FM.

“Felix Annan encouraged me to join Chelsea and it has shown that I made a good decision”

“At a point in time, I acted as goalkeepers trainer because our goalkeepers trainer  wasn’t around at that point. I call kotoko Keepers trainer for directives”.

Anann’s advice to Danlad has proved critical for the young goalkeeper as this season has come along with bitter for the Kotoko captain Anann on one hand and joy for Danlad on the other hand.

Whiles Danlad had been Chelsea’s first choice this season, virtually keeping the posts for Chelsea in almost all Premier League games, Anann’s ‘first choice’ status remains doubtful at Kotoko where has never come back in the posts after been replaced by Kwame Baah in week 5 against Ebusua Dwarfs in Kumasi.

Baah has been the regular for Kotoko and there is now a debate who is Kotoko’s current  first choice shot stopper.
