Hearts of Oak make official contact to sign Bechem United star Moro Salifu

Hearts of Oak have reportedly contact Bechem United to sign their midfielder Moro Salifu ahead of next season.

The marquee transfer business is already underway at Hearts though they have not yet make any official announcement for any of their targets.

It seems boss Samuel Boadu has realized that he needs to reinforce his defense, midfield and attacking lines leading to interests in Kwame Peprah, Prince Opoku-Agyemang, Enock Esubonteng and Gladson Awako.

Most of these names are forward men with Moro Salifu appearing the few central or defensive midfielders to be linked with a move to Hearts.

The Ghanaian International played 24 league matches and netted 7 goals from that relatively disadvantageous position for Bechem United in the ended season. He finished the Ghana Premier League season with 5 MOTM awards.

Salifu, 22, who is a target for rivals Asante Kotoko became a national asset having been called up in Black Stars B International friendly against Uzbekistan in March. Ghana lost that game 2-1 in the International land before Salifu joined Bechem United to complete 13th position on the league log.

He continued his national football progression after receiving late invitation to Ghana’s friendlies against Morocco and Ivory Coast in June.

Hearts of Oak are preparing to deploy defensive ace Benjamin Afutu in more advanced role next season which means a new defensive gem needs to join. In their FA Cup victory over Elmina Sharks in Saturday evening, Caleb Amankwah was the man who took care of the defensive role as Afutu played the box-to-box role.

With that said, few more defensive additions need to be made to compete with Amankwah for the starting position or at times as a backup. Moro Salifu could also compete with Afutu for the box-to-box role.

The 22-year old has been identified as the perfect man for that voids with Hearts of Oak reportedly graduated from the identification phase to make official contacts with Bechem United.

That is according to GhanaWeb who claims the Ghana Premier League champions have officially written to Bechem United for the availability of Moro Salifu.

Bechem United’s stance is yet to be known but the Bechem based side may be forced to let go Salifu. Bechem United are understood to be affected heavily by the covid-19 pandemic and need funds for next season’s activities.

Moro Salifu joined Bechem United from Okyeman FC in 2019 and is believed to have two years on his contract. While Bechem United could allow the midfielder leave, they could demand around Ghc1.2billion ($20,200) but Hearts are confident of a cut price deal.
