Asante Kotoko close in on move for Medeama midfielder Richard Boadu after submitting 1billion offer

Asante Kotoko are close to signing Richard Boadu from Medeama SC ahead of next season that starts October. The Porcupine Warriors are looking for the right balance in midfield despite boasting of one of the best in the Ghana Premier League.

They have been linked with a couple of Ghana Premier League starts but none of them has been official with the Kumasi based speeding up for Boadu whose deal has started on official note.

That’s according to report in GhanaSoccerNet, who claims Asante Kotoko have made official contacts with Medeama after submitting 1billion Ghana old Cedis to the FA Cup semifinalists.

It’s understood that the two parties are negotiating for a satisfying deal that will see Boadu switch camp for Kotoko this summer. With that bid submitted, Medeama could reportedly accept that offer to see the deal completed next week.

If they accept the offer, it puts them in a reduced stance for Boadu’s deal after initially asking the Ghana Premier League former champions to pay 1.5billion Ghana old Cedis.

It’s understood that Kotoko submitted a counter offer of the 1billion on Wednesday and that knee on having Medeama to re-consider their stance on their asking price- but that would not necessarily force them to accept Kotoko’s offer.

Boadu had an impressive campaign for Medeama in the Ghana Premier League in the ended term where he made 24 appearances and scored once from a deep-lying role and defensive duty.

Boadu has been linked with a move outside Ghana for seasons now but Medeama have been able to keep their prize asset till now. At the beginning of the season, Boadu was knee on joining Esperance de Tunis before the deal collapsed for unknown reasons.

Newly promoted Egyptian side Ceramica Cleopatra burst into the scene to capture Boadu but later found alternative in former Asanté Kotoko and Esperance midfielder Kwame Bonsu.

The chase for Boadu’s signature continues at the end of the Ghana Premier League as the 23-year old has heavily been linked with a move to Hearts of Oak amid their Caf Champions League participation which starts early next month.

However, financial situation of the Ghana Premier League champions has haltered the deal handing Kotoko a major boost in pursuit. Two weeks ago, Kotoko launched an attempt to lure three players from Medeama Justice Blay, Richard Boadu and Samuel Appiah.

Kotoko could have the desire with a move for Boadu granted after Medeama considering accepting their submitted bid.  Coincidentally, Boadu’s only goal in the league came against Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
