Ghana taught only who can stripe of Jordan Ayew Black Stars captain armband
Solar Ayew, a member of the Ayew family, has stated with so much confidence that, no one can strip off the Black Stars captain armband from Andre Ayew in the country excluding the President, H.E Nana Akuffo Addo.
He made this statement following the recent commentaries and criticisms from most Ghanaians who are calling for the Ayew brothers (Andre and Jordan) to retire from the national team following the country’s shambolic display in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars won no game in the three matches honoured, having earned just a point to finish at the buttom of Group C with just a point.
Skipper Andre Ayew captained the side in all the three matches played, having netted the only goal against Gabon but had to leave the pitch after just 25 minutes against Comoros.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Light FM, controversial Solar Ayew has disclosed Andre will continue to remain the country’s skipper and no one can snatch it from him except the President. He said;
“It’s a pride and honour to captain your national team, and per the performance and leadership qualities of Dede [Andre] Ayew, it will take only the President of the land, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah to stripe off the captaincy from Dede Ayew.”
“His absence will make it difficult for Ghana to beat Nigeria.” He added
The Black Stars will face Nigeria in a two legged game in March this year in the playoff round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
