Al Ahly’s interest in Mamelodi Sundowns’ Gaston Sirino confirmed by agent
Agent of Gaston Sirino, Joao Bittencourt has confirmed Al Ahly’s interest in the Uruguayan International during an interview with On-Time Sports 2.
The Egyptian giants are known to be long term admirers of Sirino, with the CAF Champions League record holders failing in a bid to sign the forward in the last transfer window.
Sirino, 29, has been on fire in both Premier Soccer League and the Champions League this season, now regarded as the most creative player in the continent’s premier tournament.

His performance against Al Ahly in the quarter finals of this year’s Champions League in particular has rekindle the Egyptians’ interest, and contacted Mamelodi Sundowns’ during the second leg tie in South Africa.
Bittencourt, who manages the 29-year-old striker, has confirmed Ahly’s interest in the client, claiming inquiry from the North Africans has already began.
“I know that there is an interest from some Egyptian and European clubs in the player, and they always ask me about it,” Bittencourt confirmed to On-Time Sports 2.
“Indeed, there were enquiries on the part of Al-Ahly, which is a big name, about signing Sirino last January, and now too. But Sundowns does not want to sell the player, because he is important to them.
“There is harmony between him and his colleagues, in addition to the conviction of coach Mosimane about it…but they may agree if there is a suitable offer.”

Asked whether the Uruguayan could adapt to North Africa in the way he’s transitioned into life in Tshwane, Joao remained coy.
“I do not know if the way of life in Egypt and the Arab countries will be appropriate for Sirino or not,” he explained.
“Perhaps it will take him some time to adapt to the atmosphere, the family factor will have a role in his choices.”
Despite Ahly’s interest Downs officials are unwilling to cash in on their prize asset against the backdrop of returning to full force in the Premier Soccer League and CAF Inter Club competitions next season.
