World Cup 2022: Beating South Korea is going to help Ghana – Gideon Mensah

Black Stars left-back Gideon Mensah is confident the 3-2 win over South Korea in their second group game will boost morale in camp ahead of their final Group H game against Uruguay at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Mensah made his first appearance at the global showpiece and churned out an impressive display to help Ghana secure a vital win.

Black Stars took a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mohammed Salisu and Kudus but two stunning headers in three minutes from Cho Gue-sung levelled the game after 61 minutes. Kudus added a final twist when he thumped in a third for Ghana to break South Korea’s hearts.

“Beating South Korea is going to help us obviously, but then if we lose against Uruguay, it would be a bit worrying so we would do more to win,” Mensah said after the game.

The result lifts the Black Stars to second in Group H and will need a win or draw their final group game against Uruguay who lost to Portugal to process to the round of 16 stage.
