Hearts of Oak identify Fabio Gama alternative in lower deal for Ghana Premier League star

Hearts of Oak have been linked with a move for Asante Kotoko playmaker Fabio Gama since the end of the Ghana Premier League where the Accra based side lifted the title for 2020/2021 season.

The Phobians’ proposed move for the Brazilian is against the background that Hearts of Oak need a no.10 man for next season’s Caf Champions League. The former Brazil U-20 International has only continued what he made of at Kotoko having shined in his previous spells in Sweden.

Despite been eliminated by the Algerian outfit, Gama contributed immensely to his club’s only goal of their campaign, holding on possession, connected Emmanuel Gyamfi at back of the box before the later send Kwame Opoku through on goal, and the USM Alger forward planted the ball at the bottom right corner of Sofiane Khedairia as Kotoko led 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

USM Alger fought back to complete a 2-1 victory over the Porcupine Warriors and the second leg in Algeria ended goalless draw with Gama ending his debut Africa club football with good experience.

This season, he has played over 24 league games/4 goals attracting huge interest from North Africa soil and the newly crowned Ghana league champions Hearts of Oak.

ES Setif, USM Alger and JSK were all reportedly interested in Fabio Gama in the course of the Confederation Cup participation- at a time that the Brazilian had only started his career at Asante Kotoko.

For Hearts of Oak, they allowed Gama to finish a full season before wanting him at the end of the Ghana Premier League season.

Gama’s move to Hearts of Oak may come at a huge cost which looks extremely unlikely for the transfer to happen due to Kotoko’s stance on the Brazilian ace, the transfer fee and a reported player’s interest while Hearts have already accept fate on these areas.

First, it’s understood that Kotoko are building their project where consistency is very crucial, meaning cashing in on their major stars including Gama is not the ideal plan for the club’s new direction. And in particular, the Kumasi based side have decided not to sell their prize asset to their most traditional rivals in history.

Third, the Brazilian is reportedly happy at his current club and is not ready for a new challenge at Phobia which all together has forced the Ghanaian champions to consider alternative for Gama.

Having been aware of these conditions surrounding Gama’s deal, which they have conceded defeat in the pursuit, Hearts have now identified Great Olympics captain Gladson Awako as the Brazilian’s alternative who Awako comes a lower option.

Hearts of Oak are fond of both Gama and Awako and their ability to keep the ball better at feet, their inter-positional plays as well as their impetus through ball potentials can’t stop the champions from chasing their signature.

Meanwhile, Gladson Awako has more energy and free kick expert than the 28-year old Brazilian.

Having get the back of Awako, they are in talks with Awako’s club Great Olympics who initially were unwilling to sell the player to Hearts but have now soften their chance for negotiations, and it’s underway in advanced stage.

In Gama’s deal on the other hand, Hearts of Oak failed to contact Kotoko due to fear that the Reds will never give them the listening ear. Adding to it, Great Olympics asking price which has not been revealed yet is believed to be lower than what the rivals would ask ($600,000 ) in exchange for Fabio Gama.
