Twelve-goal Ghana Premier League striker attracting interest from Orlando Pirates

Ghana Premier League striker Kwame Peprah has reportedly been scouted by Orlando Pirates with negotiations set to commence in days later according reports in Ghana.

This season’s Ghana top flight league was one of the best ever in over the last decade as strikers were able to bang in the goals.

The first top 9 scores of the season pulled impressive 120 goals out of total 694 Ghana Premier League strikes.

Karela United forward Diawisie Taylor finished as top scorer with 18 goals followed by Kwame Peprah who grabbed 12 times whiles Joseph Esso (Dreams FC), Hans Kwofie (Ash Gold/Legon Cities and Stephen Amankona (Berekum Chelsea) netted 11 each.

Top scorer runner up Kwame Peprah helped his team King Faisal to escape relegation with his 12 goals while he has risen to prominence in this season particular.

DON’T MISS OUT ON

It must be understood that the forward has been labelled with a departure from King Faisal at beginning of last season but interest in the 20-year old has grown this term.

Amid leaving his current club, Peprah has been monitored by a number of Ghana and African giants claimed by King Faisal official member.

In the January transfer window, Ghana Premier League trio Ash Gold, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak opened a race for the prolific forward but King Faisal who were then at the league’s bottom zone held onto their prize asset amid escaping relegation.

Hearts of Oak who were the leading candidates did made official contacts but later pulled out of the race after realizing King Faisal’s stance to keep their striker.

Few days after, Ash Gold nearly reached agreement with King Faisal and Kotoko became aware of the opportunity to sign the striker and the Reds submitted a bid.

However, King Faisal completely overlooked the offer though a King Faisal close source has stated that they received the offer for Peprah but not on time.

MORE GHANA TRANSFERS

It’s understood that King Faisal knew Kotoko’s pedigree in snatching their striker and played it gently in two fronts. First, keeping the player to battle relegation which they have achieved 100%.

And second, sell the player abroad for huge amount of cash that the club is on track of achieving after Orlando Pirates knee on signing the Ghanaian International.

The PSL giants have reportedly scouted Kwame Peprah in the first round of the Ghana Premier League and the Ghanaian’s first 10 strikes in the half maintained Pirates’ interest ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Kwame Peprah added only two goals in the second half to his first round tally, sending the King Faisal forward’s stats to 12 Ghana Premier League goals in 32 appearances.

While when only waiting for Ghana’s season to end, Orlando Pirates, who have already started their transfer activity for next season, have shortlisted Kwame Peprah in their ongoing transfers claimed by Kumasi based radio station Angel FM.

Orlando Pirates have not written to the Ghana Premier League side but could launch a bid in matter of days. The south African have embarked on strengthening their attacking lines after announcing deals for centre-back Kwanda Mngonyama and midfielder Bandile Shandu, both from Maritzburg United.

Deals for attacking midfielder Goodman Mosele from Baroka FC and winger Monnapule Saleng from Free State Stars have also been announced.

Goal has revealed that Pirates boss Josef Zinnbauer signings this summer are geared towards winning the Premier Soccer League and the Caf Confederation Cup next term and Kwame Peprah is regarded among the men to lead the project.

The Ghanaian International matches Orlando Pirates, the PSL and Caf standards given his physique, technical, tactical and psychological levels having already played at Black Stars and Black Stars B levels this season.

AFRICA AT TOKYO OLYMPICS

Pirates could reportedly submit around old 2billion Cedis ($33, 400) to lure Kwame Peprah from King Faisal.  And King Faisal is expecting a bid from the PSL side according to the club’s official member. On top of this, club owner Alhaji Karim Grusah has also revealed his prayer that foreign clubs send their offer for the 20-year old.

“I am praying for Kwame (Peprah) to get a foreign contract, for him to get a good team so the club can also benefit, Grusah said to Joy Sports via GhanaWeb.

“Insha Allah on the local and international stage we are ready,” Grusah responded when quizzed about what he will do if good offers (including Orlando Pirates) come in for Kwame Peprah.

Pirates were beaten to the PSL title by Mamelodi Sundowns as AmaZulu placed second on the log whiles the Buccaneers who claimed the third position will play in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Whiles Pirates see the Ghanaian ace as among the men to lead the lines,  Buccs fear about the signing of Ghanaian strikers since Prince Opoku-Agyemang, who joined Cape Town City in June 2020 from Medeama SC, failed to impress as the Ghanaian International’s loan deal was cancelled six months into his season long loan deal with option to buy permanently until 2024.

However, Pirates could draw on the experience gained from the signing of another Ghanaian International Richard Ofori from Maritzburg United.

The Black Stars goalkeeper has become the regular man in posts at the Soweto giants since joining from Maritzburg in October 2020 and King Faisal’s Kwame Peprah could add up to the Ghanaian number at Orlando Pirates this summer.
