Mulota Kabangu inspires TP Mazembe triumph over Zamalek in CAF Champions League opener

TP Mazembe opened their CAF Champions League group stage with a brighter victory against Zamalek at Mazembe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Zamalek produced a very resolute defending to prevent the hosts from taking the lead in the first half but TP Mazembe returned the stronger side in the side half as the substitution of Mulota Kabangu were too strong for Micho’s side to escape from Lubumbashi without a defeat.

After finding the right rhythm following the substitution of Kabangu, Mazembe opened the deadlock when Muleka combined with Kabangu’s cross to head home after Zamalek defense went to sleep.

TP Mazembe were looking to run riot over Zamalek as another piece of woeful defending from Zamalek six minutes later allowed Mputu to profit with Kabangu delivery again.

Muleka put the game beyond Zamalek as Kabangu sent in a free-kick in the final eight minutes which Muleka turned home for his brace as the home side ran out 3-0 winners on the day.
