Asante Kotoko confirm new deal for Augustine Sefa as the right back thanks Maxwell Konadu for his confidence in him

Ghana side Kumasi Asante Kotoko have confirmed new one year deal for defender Augustine Sefa on Monday evening. The defender would have been a free agent by tomorrow following the expiration of his initial in running two and half year contract.

But he has renewed his contract with the Kumasi based club with a year extension. He was nearly axed from the club as various publications in Ghana broke Kotoko’s desire to let their star defender leave when his contract expire, which would have been 31st of this month.

However, the arrival of new boss Maxwell Konadu gave Sefa a lifeline at Kotoko where he has been in negotiations with the club for some weeks now.

A statement released on club’s app commonly known as Kotoko Express App reads, “We are pleased to announce that defender, Augustine Sefa has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.”

“The player, who is known to be a big game player, signed the new deal at the club secretariat in Kumasi on Monday.”

Sefa was smart to thank Maxwell Konado and the entire Kotoko management for the confidence they have shown in him.

“I want to thank the coach and the Management for the confidence they have shown in me. I have given my hundred percent to this club and promises to increase it even more.”Sefa told Kotoko Express App.

It is believed that Augustine Sefa is not only integral player on the field but exhibit high leadership qualities and role in the dressing room, and the technical team of the Porcupine Warriors is pleased with the assistance he has been offering to young players in the squad and the right-back has promised to playing that role very well.

“Aside from the game, we have got players that need some leaders in the dressing room and my other colleague and I will play that role very well.”
