Prosper Narteh Ogum names Asante Kotoko 22-man squad to face Aduana Stars in Ghana Premier League

Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has announced a 22-man squad list for their penultimate Premier League fixture against Aduana Stars this weekend.

The Porcupine Warriors departed Kumasi for the all-important fixture on Saturday against the two-time Ghana Premier League with twenty-two players.

Asante Kotoko will be hoping for positive outcome against Aduana Stars in Dormaa after failing to qualify to the FA Cup round of 32 following a 1-0 loss to their city rivals King Faisal on Wednesday.

Kotoko have attained top four position with 20 points from 10 games so far though they have a game in hand against Hearts of Oak which the GFA is expected to announce date and venue for the outstanding clash.

Aduana Stars meanwhile lead the table with same points but have leapfrogged Kotoko in goals scored pecking order having netted 17 times against Kotoko’s 14 ahead of the Dormaa clash.

The Dormaa squad saw top performers Fabio Gama, Kwame Baah, Samuel Boateng, Andy Kumi and Isaac Oppong missing out on the trip.

Samuel Boateng who have struck twice since joining Kotoko have just returned to training on Monday. He joined Kotoko from lower side Young Apostles at beginning of this season and missed Mid-week FA Cup defeat against King Faisal.

Brazilian International Gama has been splendid but missed Kotoko FA Cup game against Faisal at Baba Yara Stadium. The medical team were confident of restoring Gama’s fitness but were hit were last-minute setback.

Kumi who rose to top form under Mariano Barreto last term has not featured for Kotoko this season. The Ghanaian International has been battling with serious injuries as he couldn’t make Dormaa’s cut.

Meanwhile, club captained Abdul Ganiyu who was dropped in FA Cup defeat has been included in the squad. Cameroonian duo Mbella and Mfegue lead the team to Dormaa and are tipped to start up front on Saturday afternoon.

Mfegue has grabbed two goals and registered four assists to emerge as the most influential Kotoko player this season so far. His compatriot, Mbella has netted two goals against Real Tamale United at Baba Yara and Legon Cities at Theatre of Dreams.
