Nigeria’s road to Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup was brought to an end by Ghana after a 1-1 draw at the Abuja National Stadium last Tuesday.

Mary Remmy Njoku didn’t sympathized with her country’s loss in fight for a place at Qatar but rather chooses to be happy Nigeria failed to qualify to the World Cup finals in November.

The Nollywood actress has expressed appreciation to no other source than God after Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after being unable to beat Ghana in Abuja on Tuesday.

Njoku believes the Super Eagles qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar would have been a distraction on the country’s development and progress.

Ghana drew goalless at home last Friday night before forcing Nigeria to a 1-1 draw away that see the Black Stars had a breakthrough on the away goal rule.

In response, Njoku said in an Instagram post that there are problems in Nigeria that need to be fixed, and she urged citizens to focus on them and put pressure on the federal government to do something.

Njoku criticised Nigeria’s growing insecurity, citing recent attacks on a train and an airport in Kaduna.

She said: “Thank God we didn’t qualify for the world cup. It would have been a distraction. We need to focus on the real problems in Nigeria and pressure the Govt to do something.

“An attack on a train! An attack at the airport. The insecurity in Nigeria is alarming. No more unnecessary distractions!!! This needs everyone’s attention.”

Ghana will know their group opponents on Friday, April 1 when the draw is held in Doha, Qatar.
