Roman Abramovich consider to replace Frank Lampard with RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann as replacement for Frank Lampard if the legend is finally fired this January or in summer according to reports.

Frank Lampard started the Premier League season quite strongly but has saw his Chelsea side gradually facing a uphill battle for Champions League football next season.

What worry most Chelsea fans is the fact that Lampard spent £220million to bolster his squad for this campaign after announcing deals for Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva but Chelsea continue to struggle with less impression from the summer signings.

Frank Lampard is the immediate candidate to be pointed fingers at for the Blues recent poor results- winning only two in eight Premier League games.

There were several reports that Chelsea hierarchy would want to fire the English International but Sky Sports reported before Chelsea’s game against Leicester City that Marina Granovskaia has given full backing to Lampard.

That’s Marina made Chelsea aware that Arsenal and Manchester United went through such difficult moments before time were granted to Mikel Arteta and Ole Gunnar Solskjær to turn fortunes around.

With that said, the West London side were thrashed 2-0 at King Power Stadium last Tuesday and that defeat has piled new pressure on Lampard with Roman Abramovich reportedly considering to replace the club’s top scorer.

The likes of Thomas Tuchel, Braden Rogers and Max Allegri have been linked with the Chelsea managerial job within periods but the Independent via football.london understand that the 8th placed side will not go in for Allegri if Lampard is finally axed.

It’s understood that Chelsea have already held talks with Tuchel after the German International was replaced with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain in December 2019. Despite contacts with Chelsea hierarchy, Tuchel’s potential move to Stamford Bridge could suffer a setback after Abramovich reportedly unwilling to sanction that deal for unrevealed reasons.

A report in football.london on Thursday afternoon reveals that RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann is Abramovich’s preferred candidate to replace Frank Lampard at Chelsea as Brendan Rodgers knee on holding his job at the King Power Stadium and challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Nagelsmann, 33, is also in the mix to guide Leipzig to challenge for the Bundesliga trophy in club’s brief 11 years history after placing his side to second place on the German top flight league with 35 points, four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Chelsea have not yet contacted Leipzig for the Nagelsmann‘s signature, meanwhile as the Bundesliga outfit are reportedly not ready to let their manager leave mid-season but may consider a move for the German International in summer claimed by Sky Sports.

With all candidates seemingly unavailable, Chelsea will not sack Lampard now- maybe until something bigger happened on course of the season- as the club’s legend would continue his work at Stamford Bridge til the end of this season in bid to turn Chelsea’s form around.

If Nagelsmann joins Chelsea permanently in summer, Leipzig have already penciled down his replacement in Red Bull Salzburg’s highly-rated boss Jesse Marsch.

The American coach was assistant to Nagelsmann’s predecessor Ralf Rangnick at Leipzig – and is widely tipped to succeed Nagelsmann whenever he leaves.
