Thomas Tuchel praises new signing Aubameyang after completing move from Barcelona

Thomas Tuchel has praised Chelsea new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the former Barca attacker moved to Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

Aubameyang completed a move to Chelsea from FC Barcelona on transfer deadline day and has received praises from his boss Thomas Tuchel who the two have reunited after 5 years.

The pair spent two years together in Germany, winning the DFB-Pokal for Die Schwarzgelben in 2016/17. In total, Aubameyang scored 79 goals in 95 appearances under Tuchel at Westfalenstadion before the Bavarian left the Bundesliga in the summer of 2017.

In an interview with Chelsea official website, Tuchel recounted the positive things the Gabonese International showed when they worked together in Germany.

‘I can only say the best things about Auba as a player and as a person. I enjoyed a lot working with him while I was at Dortmund.

‘Some players stay your players because you were very, very close, and Auba is one of those players. There was always straightaway this close bond. They always stay your players in a way.

‘He’s fun-loving and a happy person. That makes things easier for me.’

‘Aubameyang is an extrovert but very sensitive. It would be the worst thing to curb his character.

‘You can address harsh criticism when talking to him but he won’t bear grudges. Rather, he will try to understand the other side.

‘He can keep things on a factual level and this is what singles out a top professional.’

Chelsea have struggled upfront especially since the departure of Diego Costa though the London side have managed to achieve top successes including the Europa League and UEFA Champions League. In bid the solve their problem, they bought Timo Werner from RB Leipzig last two seasons but the Germain International failed to make significant shift of Chelsea’s project that started under Frank Lampard.

Chelsea resigned Romelu Lukaku for a club-record £97.5million from Inter Milan at the beginning of last season but the Belgian International has been sent out on loan after struggling again in front of goal at Stamford Bridge.

Both Werner and Lukaku have departed to their former grounds RB Leipzig and Inter respectively where they shined and made good names for themselves.

Chelsea have long been searching for the replacement and have struggled in the absence a center forward though Raheem Sterling has proved essential in the false 9.role this season scoring 3 goals so far.

Aubameyang’s signing will relief Thomas Tuchel of the heaviness to lift the Premier League title. The Gabonese International had been linked with a move to re-unite with his former boss at Chelsea when Timo Werner last left Stamford Bridge.
