Donny van de Beek starting in FA Cup against Watford as Ole Gunnar Solskjær makes highly-rated claims

Donny van de Beek is set to start in FA Cup third round tie against Watford on Saturday according to Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

On top of that the Netherlands International has been reassured that he is highly rated at the Manchester club against the backdrop that the midfielder has fallen completely behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Scott McTomminay in the pecking order.

“That’s another chance for him and, yes, I’ve spoken to him and reiterated and made him aware of how much we rate him”

Van de Beek joined Manchester United at the beginning of this season after signing a five year contract worth initial  £34.1 but the former Ajax star has struggled to find more game-time at Old Trafford.

The 23-year old has so far made 20 appearances in all domestic competitions for Manchester United while majority of his featuring saw Beek comes off the bench.

He has make only two Premier League stars and will make his ninth start across all competitions against Watford in the FA Cup third round on Saturday amid fresh background talk about his happiness at United.

“I’ve answered this question so many times,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

“There’s so many examples of players needing a little bit of time, quality players. We have many examples ourselves and there are other clubs with examples. Sometimes it takes time.

“You don’t expect people who care for him to be quiet at times, especially when they want the best for them.

“Donny is going to play tomorrow. That’s another chance for him and, yes, I’ve spoken to him and reiterated and made him aware of how much we rate him.

“But he’ll play tomorrow and that’s a good chance again to kick on.”
