Government provides update on Premier League restart

Boris Johnson has issued an update on the latest policy and guidance regarding coronavirus , leaving the Premier League’s June restart in limbo.

The league’s ‘Project Restart’ has mooted a June 8 return to action, and while the government has suggested some lockdown measures will be eased from June 1, that doesn’t leave much wiggle room.

All 20 Premier League clubs are set to meet on Monday to discuss further plans, and one thing on the agenda could be the government’s new announcement that anyone arriving in the UK via air travel must quarantine for 14 days.

This will affect numerous footballers currently residing abroad.

The government reportedly remains behind the idea of a June return for the Premier League, but two clubs have joined the bottom six in opposing the neutral venues idea, per The Telegraph .
