Chelsea edge closer in Dries Mertens transfer as Lampard inform player about transfer decision

Chelsea are poised to add Napoli forward Dries Mertens to their attacking lines for next season as a summer move for the striker has gained momentum in recent weeks.

The future of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi remain unclear, with the Frenchman tipped to join Inter Milan and Batshuayi could return to France or Germany.

Mertens has become the number one transfer target for Frank Lampard since beginning of this season, where the the Chelsea manager has been talking with the striker day-in-and-out to lure him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The transfer speculation continues to fuel when Lamps followed the Belgian on Instagram yesterday.

And, Lampard has reportedly told Mertens that he is at the top of the club’s transfer wish list, according to the Daily Star.
