Premier League releases new statement on individual training protocols as football makes a big step towards return

The English Premier League has been suspended since 13th March but they knee following suit to the Bundesliga having saw German football returned to action last weekend.

Premier League’s ‘Project Restart’ are yet to receive government’s green light in a bid to restart the season. The collaborative officials including the Premier League, government and National Health Service (NHS) are working on appropriate measure for the League’s return.

As part of the efforts to restart football in UK, the Premier League has released a statement on training protocols amid safeguarding the spread of the virus whiles football makes a big step to returning.

The latest statement is confirming every club returning to individual training which start tomorrow Tuesday 19th May.

“Premier League Shareholders today voted unanimously to return to small-group training from tomorrow afternoon, the first step towards restarting the Premier League, when safe to do so.

“Step One of the Return to Training Protocol enables squads to train while maintaining social distancing. Contact training is not yet permitted.

“This first stage has been agreed in consultation with players, managers, Premier League club doctors, independent experts and the Government.

“Strict medical protocols of the highest standard will ensure everyone returns to training in the safest environment possible.

“The health and well-being of all participants is the Premier League’s priority, and the safe return to training is a step-by-step process.

“Full consultation will now continue with players, managers, clubs, the PFA and LMA as protocols for full-contact training are developed.”

Whiles players train individually as per today’s statement, there would be further meeting to see the development of protocols for full contact training. This means Premier League clubs can now start training together as a group or in groups,
