PSG emphatic 3-0 victory over RB Leipzig hands Champions League final first time in their history

Paris Saint-Germain have cemented a place in this year’s Champions League final after beating Bundesliga side RB Leipzig who departs the competition with a remarkable milestone, making a Champions League semifinals appearance for the first time in their history.

PSG was nearly crushed out in quarter finals when Atalanta through Mario Pašalić opened the score in the first half to unsettle the French Ligue 1 side.

But stoppage time double from Marquinhos and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting saw Thomas Tuchel’s side produced a late comeback under to nose of Gian Piero Gasperini as PSG appeared in the semifinals of European top flight football for the first time in 25 years.

RB Leipzig on the other hand caused a major upset in their last Champions League game before today’s clash against PSG, when Dani Olmo and Tyler Adams strikes handed the Bundesliga outfits a 2-1 advantage over Atletico Madrid to set a date against the French champions today Tuesday evening.

Marquinhos, who is known to score PSG’s first goal in this Champions League knockout phase and Di Maria netted early and late first half goals to give PSG a comfortable 2-0 lead in a very dominating first half performance from the French side.

Leipzig bounced back strongly in second part of the game, and in very spirited manner, but they showed sign of a team that lacked a clinical finisher against experienced and tough PSG defense especially when Thiago Silva controls the back line.

And it’s not surprising after Leipzig cashing in on their potent striker Timo Werner who grabbed 32 goals in 42 Champions League and Bundesliga games before joining Premier League side Chelsea.

Former Juventus center-back Juan Bernat put the game beyond the German side after making it 3-0 in the second half for PSG as the Ligue 1 giants reach Champions League finals for first time in their history whiles their opponents exit the competition at a very respectable stage and to a respectable side.
