Uefa Awards 2020-2021: Chelsea and Barcelona dominate as Thomas Tuchel, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho collect major honours

The UEFA Champions League 2021-2022 group stage draw ceremony was held in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday.

From defending champions Chelsea to strong title contenders Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Europe’s elite clubs finally got to know about their opponents for this season’s UEFA Champions League in the group stage draw ceremony.

PSG and Man City are drawn in Group A while Real and Inter Milan are placed in Group D.

UEFA also announced the winner of the Player of the Year award during the course of the draw ceremony.

UEFA had earlier named Chelsea stars Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne in the three-man shortlist for the men’s Player of the Year award. Thomas Tuchel who had guided Chelsea to its second Champions League title has been named the best coach of the 2020-21 season. Chelsea’s Jorginho was declared the winner of the UEFA Player of the Year award.

Jorginho named UEFA Player of the Year!

Jorginho has been named the UEFA Player of the Year for season 2020-21. Jorginho also played a crucial role in Italy’s historic title triumph at the UEFA Euro 2020. With the Italian conquering Europe twice, Jorginho has now become the proud holder of the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year trophy.
