Tottenham shirt numbers available to Richarlison

Richarlison is close to sealing a move to Tottenham, but now the striker has a hard decision to make – what number does he take from those available to him?

Tottenham Hotspur have continued to back Antonio Conte, with Richarlison expected to be unveiled as the north Londoners’ fourth signing of the summer. The 25-year-old is expected to undergo a medical abroad on Thursday after Spurs agreed a £60million fee with Everton for the striker’s signature.

It’s said that an agreement was reached late on Wednesday evening; Spurs will reportedly table £50million up-front plus another £10million in add-ons. Richarlison, who has been on holiday following his international duty, was heavily linked with an exit from Goodison Park amid interest from a host of Premier League sides, though it seems Tottenham have proven to be victorious in their efforts.

It’s understand that personal terms have been agreed too, which proved not to be an issue, and the deal is set to be ‘pushed through quickly’ ahead of the Financial Fair Play deadline on June 30 to help Everton. The Toffees’ have continued to face FFP problems and the sale of Richarlison can bolster their case to provide evidence of an agreement, thus counting towards the final year of the financial fair play ruling.

The transfer could be completed on Thursday and announced soon after. It’s believed that the Brazil international is available to fly out on Spurs’ pre-season tour to South Korea on July 9 after his holiday.

But first, Richarlison will need a number. With the easy decision already made, the Brazilian has the hardest of all left before donning the Lilywhite strip. So, with that being said, football.london takes a closer look at what numbers could be available to the forward.

Number 9

The No. 9 seems to be the most likely option for Richarlison, with the shirt currently available. Gareth Bale donned the nine amid his short-lived return to White Hart Lane on loan but it’s yet to have been grabbed since.

Richarlison wears the nine for Brazil, despite having never worn it – officially – at club level. He has often alternated with the number seven, but Son Heung-Min houses that strip.

Number 11

Richarlison wore the No. 11 momentarily for Watford but, interestingly enough, he hasn’t since. Of course, Bryan Gil wears the number 11, but the Spaniard faces an increasingly uncertain future at White Hart with all things considered; competition for places, game time last season, experience.

Number 19

Again, another shirt already taken but this time by Ryan Sessegnon. Richarlison wore the No. 19 while at Fluminense, but alternated with the number 70 there too, which takes us onto our fourth possibility…

Number 70

As mentioned, Richarlison wore the No. 70 in the early stages of his career when playing in Brazil – this was his first professional senior number.
