Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge fire warning to Reds over Sadio Mane  potential transfer to Real Madrid or Barcelona

John Aldridge who played as a striker for Liverpool between 1987 and 1989 have warned Jurgen Klopp’s side not to sell Anfield star Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese has been splendid for Liverpool during all this while after signing from Southampton back in June 2016, helping the Anfield side to win the UEFA Champions League and being crowned world champions just three years later.

In light of his perfect combination with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in front of goal, the Senegalese International have been spotted by Real Madrid and Barcelona where the Spanish duo have made plans to compete for his signature this summer’s transfer window.

Mane may join any of these clubs in a bid to lift as many European cups but Liverpool are currently one of the clubs in Europe to offer that opportunity, making them a club fit to keep their quality stars from their competitors.

In this, Aldridge has told his former side Liverpool not to worry about losing Mane to their competitors in a bid that the Senegalese would want to win trophies at those destinations.

He warned, despite Liverpool standing a strong position to keep their stars, it would become worst for Klopp’s side if they start selling their big-name players.

“Liverpool shouldn’t be too worried about Mane’s situation,” Aldridge wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo via the Daily Express.

“They have never before been in such a strong position to be able to keep hold of their best players.

“Indeed, now would be the worst time for them to start potentially cashing in.

“Mane has probably been our best player this season. And what’s more, he can get even better next season and perhaps even win the Champions League again.”

He also warned Mane, 28, about the consequences of leaving Anfield for Barcelona using Philippe Coutinho transfer as typical case scenario.

“Not all who leave Liverpool go on to struggle,” Aldridge added. “Look at Raheem Sterling at Manchester City.

“But Philippe Coutinho is a great example in recent times of where it can go wrong. He was at the pinnacle of his career when he left Liverpool for Barcelona, but it has all since fallen somewhat flat.

“What’s more, Liverpool are a better team than either Barcelona or Real at present.

“Look, I have a lot of feeling for Barcelona in particular. When I played in Spain, I used to love going there and it was a lucky ground for me.

“But the Premier League is the best league in the world – okay, we might not have the best weather! – and Liverpool are one of the clubs on the planet and, of course, are world champions.”
