Al Ahly complete the signing of Taher Mohamed from Arab Contractors

Al Ahly have announced the signing of highly-rated playmaker Taher Mohamed from domestic rivals El Mokawloon in a transfer worth a reported R20-million.

It’s believed that Ahly opted for the Egypt international after being rebuffed in their attempts to land Gaston Sirino from Mamelodi Sundowns in recent weeks.

The technically gifted midfielder who’s capable of playing in advanced forward who spent time in France with Le Harve during a loan spell in 2016 admits he’s fulfilled a childhood dream.

“My desire to play within the ranks of Al-Ahly has been living inside me since I was a young player,” he told the club’s website upon the confirmation of the R20-million transfer.

“I’m entering a new challenge with one of the world’s great clubs, participating in writing glory and history and I hope to make the club’s loyal fans happy.

“I have moved to one of the world’s largest clubs and my ambitions are without limits. My focus will be to compete and become an important part of this Al-Ahly squad and its fans and contribute to achieving victories and titles.”

Mohamed has scored 11 goals and registered nine assists in 78 games since making his Egyptian top-flight debut as a 17-year-old back in 2014.

The Reds are still hoping to add few more additions ahead of next season.
