Shanghai Shenhua demand £20m from Manchester United if the want to extend Ighalo’s deal

Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo would cost Manchester United £20 million ($25m) if they want to extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond his loan spell.

United announced a loan deal for the Nigerian striker in the Deadline Day of January transfer window.

With the deal expiring ending of this month, Ighalo is expected to join parent club Shanghai Shenhua for the start of the new Chinese Super League season which is scheduled to begin in July.

Meanwhile, Ighalo has impressed at Old Trafford, scoring 4 times out of 8 games for Manchester United before the season was suspended as the Premier League outfits may want his services extended.

However, the EPL’s return still remain unclear and the Nigerian striker need to return as the Chinese outfits have told the striker he may be needed for the upcoming season.

United need Ighalo too for the remainder of the season, that the EPL could resume in July- but not certain.

A renegotiation to extend the striker’s deal is an option for Manchester United. It’s believed that Shanghai Shenhua will only accept extension that is permanent or Ighalo returns to China.

The Chinese Super League giants have placed £20million price tag on the forward, and that would be the cost Manchester United have to pay if they want to sign the Nigerian International permanently, according to Mail.

Ighalo is contracted at Shanghai Shenhua until 2022 and they knee extending his contract till December 2024 claimed by Sky Sports.

Newcastle is reportedly eyeing the striker and would complete a signing of him if the proposed takeover is completed.
