Juventus hope to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan as the Old Ladys sporting director leaves their pre-season tour to negotiate with Chelsea

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will travel to England in the coming days to negotiate a loan deal for with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku.

According to Goal, Giuntoli has left Juventus pre-season tour of the United States early to begin talks with the Blues this weekend.

Lukaku, who joined Chelsea for £97.5m back in 2021, continues to train alone at their Cobham training base.

The Belgian forward had been left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s 29-man squad for Chelsea’s pre-season tour, which is also in the US.

Lukaku is determined to return to Italy, with the 30-year-old looking to become the focal point of Juventus attack.

Giuntoli is expected to speed up negotiations with Chelsea to keep a promise to Lukaku, who is reportedly concerned by the lack of progress in the talks.

The striker agreed personal terms with Juventus over one month ago, but an agreement is still missing between the two clubs.

Lukaku had initially been expected to rejoin Inter Milan after spending last season on loan at the San Siro.

Inter backed out of a potential deal after becoming aware that Lukaku had entered talks with rivals Juventus.

Juve would like Lukaku on loan with an option to buy at the end of next season.

This would would allow the Old Lady to bring the sign Lukaku immediately, even if Dusan Vlahovic remains at the club.

Juventus are open to selling Vlahovic, but are yet to receive any official offers for the Serbian international despite interest from PSG.

Without a guarantee of selling Vlahovic for significant sum, Juventus have been forced to target a loan move rather than a permanent deal.
