Ex Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe reckons Bashiru Hayford as the best manager he has played under

Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has reckoned Bashiru Hayford as the best coach he has ever played under.

Bekoe who played for Tudu Mighty Jets, Liberty Professionals and Kpando Hearts Lions before joining Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 2008 was part of the Porcupine squad that won the 2008/09 Ghana Premier League under Bashiru Hayford.

Bekoe revealed in an interview with Kumasi based Radio Station Luv FM, saluting the former manager and labeling him as a teacher, friend and psychologist.

“Let me first salute Bashiru Hayford. He was a coach, teacher and more than a friend. He was a father and psychologist as well,” he said.

“If I have a problem I first go to the coach and explain to him. He will say Bekoe you are not here to take money, you are just passing through, leave a legacy and eat around it.

“It’s just about three words and is done. He’s a teacher by profession and he brings it into football as well.”

“Forget about his life outside football especially with the fans. It’s not everybody that is familiar with the media but on the field of play what one brings on board is what Bashiru Hayford is all about all the time.”

Bashiru Hayford guided Kotoko to the 2008 CAF Confederation Cup group stage, and in that tournament Bekoe who praises Hayford emerged as the top scorer of the African second Tier competition, grabbing 10 goals for the Ghanaian side.
