Empem Dacosta opens up on Legon Cities move, decline exchange of words with boss Maxwell Konadu rumours

Empem Dacosta has been tipped to leave Kotoko after emerging as 5th choice option under Maxwell Konadu.

The defender is on his way to Legon Cities Football Club after Accra based side submitted a loan bid for the defender.

The former Karela United center-back was reportedly unwilling to leave the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium but has now decided to seek more playing time at the nation’s capital.

In an interview with Kumasi FM, the defender declined rumours that he has engaged in exchange of words with boss Maxwell Konadu, insisting the boss only informed him management decision to send him out on loan at Legon Cities FC.

“I have no problem with coach Maxwell Konadu. I remember he called me during one training session and informed me of plans by management to transfer me to Legon Cities FC,” Dacosta told Kumasi FM.

“I was surprised to hear on radio and on social media that I have insulted the coach. I had been training with Kotoko before the suspension of the league due to COVID-19. I am cool with everyone and go on with my normal duties at the club.

“I’m still a Kotoko player and have been contemplating how I have not been able to achieve my desired aim for the club but it’s normal and part of life.”

“Personally I would wish to leave and have enough playing time at Legon Cities but even if I have to leave,I know I’m not leaving on a bad note.”

“Kotoko is in my blood and I am a die-hard fan. I am grateful to Dr Kwame Kyei and the management for everything. I am reiterating on your medium that even if I have to leave Kotoko, I will be back.”

The 22-year-old was a regular man under Kjetil Zachariassen where he was most of the time deployed at right-back but has fallen out of favour under Maxwell Konadu this term.
