Maritzburg goal- keeper Richard Ofori appears the latest January transfer target for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are desperate to strengthen their goal keeping department, and it seems they would take the January transfer window to explore opportunities available to them next month.

Daniel Akpeyi has been brilliant for Chief so far, winning the player of the month award for September but the Nigerian is not getting any younger. His competitor, Itumeleng Khune is facing the same ageing issue, and to add is that the former South African no.1 is struggling with fitness issues despite making a return from injury in recent times.

Chiefs would be smart to dig deep into next month’s transfer window to find replacement or back up for Akpeyi and Khune, and the league leaders are keeping eye on Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper Reyaad Pieterse.

Pieterse shows that he has been running for Sundowns this season, where he has fired the CAF Champions League campaigners to a third place in the ABSA Premiership, have impressed Chiefs big bosses.

Despite penciling down Sundowns’s keeper, Pieterse is not the only name Chiefs are chasing this January or next summer, especially knowing very well that they will find it difficult to sign Pieterse this January given Sundowns CAF Champions League participation.

This has put Black Stars and Maritzburg keeper Richard Ofori the latest Kaizer Chiefs target ahead of the January window. As it stands now Pieterse and Ofori are the leading targets on Chiefs’goal-keeping shopping list.
