Asante Kotoko set to swoop for Ivorian keeper Ira Tape Eliezer from San Pedro

Asante Kotoko have entered into the transfer market in search of reinforcements ahead of their CAF Champions League competition next season, and have identified San Pedro shot-stopper Ira Tape Eliezer, according to reports in Ghana.

And that comes along with the likelihood that Felix Anann could depart and Ira Tape is considered as a potential replacement for Anann.

Anann is no more considered first choice goalkeeper for the Ghana Premier League outfits after the arrival of Kwame Baah from Inter Allies in July 2019.

Baah has appeared in almost all Premier League games for Kotoko with the exception of the first five games before the covid-19 pandemic halted the season half way.

Anann is linked with a move to Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United- who are weighing the best situation to sign Anann or Ira Tape.

The Ivorian International is now considered a future prospect for the Elephant of Ivory Coast after guiding San Pedro to the group stages of last season’s CAF Confederation Cup and manned the post to send Ivory Coast U-23 side to the postponed 2020 Olympic Games due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ira Tape was in posts when San Pedro met Kotoko in Confederation Cup play-off and the Ivorian International was the man who prevented the Ghana Premier League club from qualifying to the money zone.

The 23-year old joined San Pedro from Société Omnisports de l’Armée in 2017 and has 2-year deal on his contract due to his recent renewal whiles Kotoko knee prising him away from Abidjan.

According to reports, the Ghanaian champions could face stiffer competition from South African clubs for Ira Tape’s signature.

Maritzburg United are heavily linked whiles Chippa United are also interested.
