Hearts of Oak former midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim debunked claim of former team-mate Thomas Abbey over allegedly salary issues that led to Hearts defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko in the 2017 FA Cup.
The Phobians were thumbed 3-1 by Asante Kotoko in the 2017 FA Cup final in Tamale. Thomas Abbey captained Hearts in their humiliating loss to their most traditional rivals in Ghana football.

Abbey made a revelation about the cause of Hearts of Oak loss, lamenting lack of three months and winning bonuses worked against his players and in turn that gave Kotoko upper hand in the final.
Team-mate Samudeen who was a member of players on the pitch has denied and labeled Abbey’s revelation as a ‘tarnish of then Hearts players’ image’.

“I see a single player trying to tarnish the image of all his colleagues with something they know nothing about….. Painful World” Samudeen wrote on his facebook timeline.
The 2017 final loss remains one of the heaviest defeats for Hearts of Oak in domestic cup finals in the history of Ghana football.
Their fall was plotted and implemented by former Atletico Madrid ace Saddick Adams who led Asante Kotoko to the famous victory.

The forward Ghana U-17 International bagged in a hat-trick, finding back of the net twice in the first 45’ minutes before completing his hat-trick in the second half.
Abbey who has been debunked rose above Kotoko defence to head home a consolation for the Accra based side in stoppage time.
