Former Cape Town midfielder Mkhanyiseli Siwahla commends Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic

Kaizer Chiefs completed the signing of Samir Nurkovic from Serbian side lower side Komarno in July 2019, and the forward has simply impressed in the PSL this season.

He has managed 11 goals and three assists in 19 games for Chiefs in the ABSA Premiership so far.

The former Komarno center forward’s contribution to Kaizer Chiefs’ title ambition cannot be overlooked, providing close to half of the total goals the Glamour Boys have scored in this season’s league.

The stats compare the Serbian goal poacher to PSL key performers, Gabadinho Mhango of Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler, Highlands Park’s Peter Shalulile and Bonginkosi Ntuli of AmaZulu who are among the Premiership’s top scorers and are chasing for the Manyathela Golden Boot award in the 2019-2020 term.

The signing of the striker has earn Kaizer Chiefs several commendations  for bringing such a top talent in the PSL.

The latest to appreciate both Chiefs and Nurkovic is former Ajax Cape Town midfielder Mkhanyiseli Siwahla who played against Nurkovic during their time in Slovakia, and he has rated the Amakhosi striker as one of the best in South Africa this season.

“For me, he came to South Africa for a right team for him. Kaizer Chiefs is a big team – a big team that is always given a boost by the supporters, whether playing at home or away. So, he’s definitely in the right team,” Siwahla told the Siya crew.

“As far as I know him, he is a fighter who fights for every ball out there on the field. He controls the ball very well and he knows how to position himself in the box.

“He is a smart player. Kaizer Chiefs made a good signing in him. I know him, he’s a smart guy, and I played against him.

“As much as he can score goals himself, he can also set up his teammates to also score. Guys like (Lebogang) Manyama and (Khama) Billiat can benefit from him. Those are players that play around him,” concluded Siwahla.

The striker and Glamour Boys have come a long way this season as Kaizer Chiefs knee ending their 5-year PSL title drought.

Chiefs were closely leading the table with 48 points after 22 games before the league was halted. They were chased on the log by Mamelodi Sundowns who sit second place with 44 points from 21 games before the pandemic led to suspension of the league.
