Al Ahly reveal stand on Ahmed Hegazi possible return as the Egyptians prepare for January transfer window

Amir Tawfik, Al Ahly Marketing Director has refused to confirm or deny the rumours of Ahmed Hegazi returning to the club in January.

Ahmed Hegazi who joined West Bromwich Albion in January 2018 has been out of favor at the Championship side this season, and there have been reports in recent times linking the former Al Ahly player back to the club.

The Egyptian power house are known to be planning swoops in the January transfer haven already secure the services of  Mahmoud Kahraba on a free transfer after the player terminated his contract with Portuguese outfits CD Aves.

Rumours linking Hegazi back to Ahly will be accepted to a certain degree as the defender has involved in in-and-out transfers between Al Ahly and West from 2017 to 2018, and marketing director of Ahly Amir Tawfik has already confirmed their plans to walk into next month’s window to add one more player to their current squad.

By this, it remains unknown who the African giants would sign this January. However, reports have it that Ahly are keeping eyes on the West Brom man, planning to bring him to Al Ahly Stadium.

Reacting to those rumours, the Ahly marking director failed to dismiss all reports, and he did not confirm the story either.

“We have one deal left in January after signing Mahmoud Kahraba and until now we have not decided who will be our new player”, Amir Tawfik is quoted in KingFut.

“Whether Hegazi or any other name we want to include, we will only talk about it in the closed rooms with the management and technical staff, and then announce the deal,” he added.

On domestic front, Ahly seems to doing great after winning the Egyptian League title on 5 times in the last 6 years. But the Cairo based clubs have struggled to win the CAF Champions League since 2013, and experience is one element Weiler’s side would need to conquer Africa again.

And Hegazi is a perfect fit for them. Ahly management and technical staff would explore any chances to land their former and the experience defender.
