Asante Kotoko receives huge financial boost in a bid to clear Esperance de Tunis after supporters donate GH¢ 15,881 to club officials

Asante Kotoko are in financial distress due to the several levels on which the club have been fined by the Ghana Football Association and FIFA over breach of contractual terms in recent years.

However, they have received a huge financial boost after supporters’ body National Circles Council have donated a sum of GH¢ 15, 881.48 to the club’s officials.

The Ghanaian giants have already experience financial crisis after paying compensations to former managers Charles Kwablan Akonnor and Kjetil Zachariassen in March this year, and over GFA’s fine of GH¢ 20,000 in January.

They have also been hit with a huge FIFA fine and are count liable to pay Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis $180,000 over wrongful signing of Emmanuel Clottey from the CAF Champions League holders in 2015.

After failing to show commitment to the FIFA fine, the world football governing body have incurred an ultimatum, and the Ghana giants are racing against time- 10th March, 2020, to pay Esperance to avoid being relegated to lower division.

The Kumasi based club called for financial assistance from their supporters to mobilize funds to clear Esperance, and the fans have responded well by handing GH¢ 15, 881.48 as confirmed by club’s General Manager Nana Akwasi Gyambibi via Ghana Soccer Net.
