Magdy Afsha- Al Ahly want to face Zamalek in 2019-2020 Total CAF Champions League final

Al Ahly midfielder Mohamed Magdy Afsha has revealed Zamalek as the club he wish to face in the 2019-2020 Total CAF Champions League finals.

Ahly and Zamalek cleared a very difficult hurdle in the quarter finals before reaching the semis of this year’s CAF Champions League. Ahly progressed to the last four after securing a 3-1 aggregate score line over South African Mamelodi Sundowns whilst Zamalek emerged 3-2 victory over defending champions Esperance de Tunis.

Now, Ahly and their traditional rivals make semifinal trip to Morocco with the former and latest battling Wydad Athletic Club and Raja Club Atheltic Casablanca respectively. The winner between Zamalek and Raja will meet Ahly in this year’s competition final, that is when Ahly eliminate WAC in the other semifinal game.

If in case Ahly qualifies ahead of WAC, Mohamed Magdy Afsha would prefer Zamalek to also edge past Raja in the remaining fixture to make all Egyptian-affair in the final of the Total CAF Champions League for 2019-2020 edition.

The midfielder has revealed he wanted ever to meet Zamalek after the CAF Super Cup champions defeated Ahly to lift the Egyptian Super Cup this year.

“We wanted to face them at the league after losing the Egyptian Super Cup title and I want to face them at CAF Champions League final.” Afsha said on Thursday.

Ahly hopes to lift their 9th title of the Champions League to extend them as the most successful club in the history of the competition.

At the receiving end, Zamalek look to continue their success on the African continent after winning the Confederation Cup last season.  Winning the 2019-2020 Champions League title will make Zamalek the first club to win in succession all three different CAF Inter Club competitions.
