MTN FA CUP: Asokwa Deportivo come from a goal down to crush out Asante Kotoko from the 2019-2020 MTN FA Cup

Asante Kotoko have been crushed out of the 2019-2020 MTN FA Cup by Lower Division side Asokwa Deportivo in 1/64 of the FA Cup at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Kotoko began their journey away from the Kumasi Baba Yara Sport Stadium with a shocking 1-2 defeat to Asokwa Deportivo after the lower tier side came from a goal down to stole victory away from the Ghana Premier League giants.

And perhaps their 2017 MTN Cup title defence has been uprooted in a sorrow manner not by at least a Premier League side at the round of 64 of this year’s competition.

Kotoko took the lead in the first half through forward Richard Arthur after the Porcupine Warriors emerged the better side of the two teams.

However, Asokwa Deportivo drew on level on stoppage time of the first half (45+1) when Raymond Owusu Frimpong headed home for the equalizer.

The Lower Division side unsurprisingly went ahead 13’ minutes into the second half through Emmanuel Osei following their ever-dominance early in the second half.

There was nothing Kotoko could do to get back into the game as they had lost confidence to pull the trigger to Asokwa Deportivo.

Deportivo continued their enticing football but failed to extend their leading-deficit as the game ended in 2-1 score line at the Obuasi Len Cla after 90’ minutes of regular football.
