Kotoko legend Malik Jabir disappointed in club’s poor run of form and admits huge problems in Kotoko

Kumasi Asante Kotoko legend Malik Jabir has highlighted worries about Kotoko’s poor run of form. The 1983 CAF Champions League winners are winless from the last three games when the club last beat Dreams FC in Week 9 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors then drew with regional rivals Ash Gold before losing to Aduana Stars and just recently to Lower Division side Asokwa Deportivo in 1/64 of the MTN FA Cup.

In a game that the Porcupines Warriors didn’t just lost/lose the tie but they were completely outclassed especially in the second half by the Division One side at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

Club legend Malik Jabir has grown worry of/about Kotoko’s poor run of form, and defeat to the lower tier side forced the legend to describe “I felt sad after hearing the results (against Asokwa Deportivo).

“Honestly I felt sad for Kotoko after hearing the results. I thought about it several times and I think Kotoko is in a problem. We need to take time and pause, sit down and think together where the way out is. I feel that is the most important thing now” he said during discussions with Angel FM Monday morning sports.

Malik Jabir sound there are huge set of problems the Porcupine Warriors are facing, ranging from the technical staff through the playing body now to change of stadium tussle.

Prior to the start of the season, there was tension in the technical staff when boss Maxwell Konadu few days after joining the Porcupine Warriors decided to replace first assistant coach Johnson Smith who somehow had got Kotoko back to shape after the club’s disappointing campaign against Etoile Sportive de Sahel and San Pedro in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.

Though Johnson Smith remained at the Warriors, nothing changed from who Maxwell Konadu wanted to bring on board, which isn’t a bad idea either, leading to changes in the technical department of the club with Abdualai Galaze brought in as first assistant coach, Smith moved to second assistant and Akakpo Patron previously second assistant now demoted to the youth side.

This wasn’t a healthy scenario especially factoring timing as an important element of success for the Porcupine Warriors to ply on for a smooth campaign in the Ghana Premier League season.

To worsen their problems  is the Porcupine’s inability to resolve differences with star striker Songne Yacouba who should be playing by now but the Burkina International has simply been sidelined to the bench.

Together with these two problems is that Kotoko have been forced to make a home away from their favorite Baba Yara Sports Stadium, and the decision to find a perfect available option has put Kotoko on the limbo
