Prince Tagoe: Former Black Stars forward ready to rejoin GPL side Hearts of Oak with Muntari signing inspired

Former Black Stars striker, Prince Tagoe has exhibited his readiness to rejoin Hearts of Oak if only they will need his service. The forward’s move to the Ghana Premier League outfit is inspired by Sulley Muntari signing with Hearts weeks ago.

The 35 year old featured for Hearts of Oak for just a season which was the 2004/05 football season where he netted 18 goals to propel them win the league and the maiden CAF Confederations Cup competition.

The ‘Phobians’ haven’t been at their best so far in the ongoing season with their quest to defending the league title thrown in a huge doubt- something they look to overturn in the second phase.
He will want to follow the path of his former Black Stars teammate, Sulley Muntari who joined the continental club masters in the just-closed transfer window and is gradually making his impact felt in the team.
Speaking on Angel TV, the former TSG Hoffenheim forward has stated he is ever ready to don the ‘Phobian’ colours again and still has the experience to solve their striking problems. He said;
“I will sign for Hearts of Oak if they need me. I still have the experience as a striker. With Sulley in the midfield, I can strike for Phobia.”

Tagoe talks about his memorable game in career
Prince Tagoe disclosed that the most memorable game of his football career was playing his first match at the FIFA World Cup in 2010 against Serbia.

The ex-Hearts of Oak striker was named in the starting line up by then coach Milovan Rajevac as Ghana opened their group D game with a win against the Europeans.

The lanky attacker played the entire game as an Asamoah Gyan 84th minute penalty condemned the Serbs to defeat.

“Actually the best memory in my playing career was to playing the first match in the World Cup 2010 against Serbia,” the 32-year old revealed.

Despite the West Africans enjoying a good tournament in South Africa, it all ended in heartbreak after the Black Stars lost on penalties to Uruguay in the quarter finals.

Ghana had a golden opportunity to become the first African side to reach the semi final of the World Cup after the team had a penalty in the final minute of the game, which was missed by Asamoah Gyan.

Tagoe, however adds the game against the South Africans remains one of the unforgettable match in his career.

“Really it was a big match, huge drama is really unforgettable, because to lose the match was very unfortunate but it is football, it’s happening in football,” he said.

Prince Tagoe just joined Bangladeshi side Chittagong Abahani Limited last week.

Tagoe compares Andre Ayew leadership qualities

Prince Tagoe described Andre Ayew’s leadership as a genetic he inherited from his father Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew back in 2018.

Andre Ayew’s leadership qualities was noticed by many straight from the commencement of his career when he captained Ghana’s U-20 side to win the Youth African Cup of Nations and later the glorious U-20 FIFA World Cup in Egypt after defeating Brazil in the final in 2009.

The son of the maestro Adebi Pele risen within the ranks and couched a style of play for himself which many have identified as a genetic endowment from his father.

In an exclusive interview with SVTV Africa, Prince Tagoe said he believes Andre has a gem which he inherited from his father at birth.

“With Andrew, he has been on top of his game for years now, we all know what he can do.

“But Andrew has something which is from birth, he has leadership qualities, trust me and forget about what people say that he is too know.

“When I was in Madina coast football, when he was young, his dad used to bring him to play and he’s been like that.

The former Black Stars forward added, “If you want to know the best team in Ghana, the youth team U-20 our time was the best. Even U-23 we have Asamoah Gyan, Anthony Annan and the rest but we couldn’t reach anywhere.

“He came we went to Africa, he won. We went to the World Cup, he won and brought the cup to Ghana, so it is by birth. We have certain things you can’t take it from anybody, it’s from his father to him and I believe he still has that thing,” the former Bussaspor forward told SVTV.

The former Tudu Mighty Jets and Hearts of Oak attacker revealed to SVTV how the presence of Abedi Pele has helped to shape the career of the new Fanebache player and at the right time, he would achieve heights Abedi Pele was unable to conquer.

“In life, we are all born in different ways, but when you are born and your father has certain things, he transfers it to you, we’re your dad hasn’t reached you can continue.

Wherever Dede would play whether Turkey or wherever, he can go to Saudi Arabia when the time comes it will happen,” Tagoe said.

Prince Tagoe played with Andre Ayew for the Black Stars on a number of occasions during the 2010 World Cup and AFCON.
