Ernst Middendorp laments poor officiating on recent Kaizer Chiefs matches, describes decisions as ‘unfortunate’

Kaizer Chiefs manager Ernst Middendorp has expressed concern about officiating offered to Chiefs’ recent matches.

The expression of concern came after Chiefs suffered Nedbank Cup exit in the hands of Highlands Park last Saturday, simply describing the decisions that have went against Chiefs in recent ABSA Premiership and Nedbank games as ‘unfortunate decisions’.

Following Chiefs’ 5-4 on penalties loss to Highlands Park in the Nedbank competition, Middendorp thought his side should have been awarded a penalty for an incident on Dumisani Zuma during extra-time at Makhulong Stadium.

“It is a run of unfortunate decisions if you start from the game we lost against SuperSport United in the league.

“We lost against Maritzburg United last week and judging by the reviews we were denied the penalty that could have changed the game.

“We will take it in the spirit of football and move on. We will remain calm, keep our focus and prepare for the next match,” the coach said, as quoted on Chiefs’ official website.

Chiefs are preparing for the eagerly-awaited Soweto Derby clash against Orlando Pirates, which will take place at FNB Stadium this coming Saturday.

They still lead the Premiership table with 45 points, 6 points above their next Saturday opponents and 4 points above second place Mamelodi Sundowns.
