Walid Soliman double against Platinum FC hands Al Ahly second consecutive CAF Champion League victory

Al Ahly recorded their second consecutive victory in CAF Champions League after seeing off Zimbabwean Platinum FC 2-0 on Saturday night. Walid Soliman was at the center of Ahly’s deserving victory today, scoring in each half to hand the Egyptians that victory.

Al Ahly bounced back against Sudanese outfits Al Hilal in their second game, inflicting a 2-1 defeat on Hilal having lost their opener against Etoile Sportive De Sahel in Tunisia.

The Egyptians continued from where they left against Al Hilal beating Platinum 2-0 at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.

Walid Soliman produced a tremendous header from a stunning cross to put Ahly ahead inside Eight minutes before Soliman again converted a penalty on the 69 minute to end the game 2-0 for Weiler’s men.

Rene Weiler’s side, Al Hilal and group leaders Etoile have six points each whiles Platinum are yet to pick any point.

Elsewhere in Morocco, Wydad Athletic Club thrashed Angolan side Petro de Luanda 4-1 at Stade Mohammed V. Ayoub El Kaabi grabbed a hat-trick, scoring each goal on 29’, 79′ and 90+3′ before Wilson Pinto Gaspar scored an own goal to complete WAC’s four-goal riot.

Antonio Rosa Ribeiro “Toni” pulled one back for the Angolans as the away side have failed to pick three points in a single game of the Champions League group stages, resting at the bottom of Group C with a point.

WAC’s win today hands them their first group stage victory after drawing in their previous two games against USM Alger and Mamelodi Sundowns.
